Foundation course not to count in Civil Services allocation this year

The government will not implement in the current year its proposal to link service/cadre allocation for candidates who clear the Civil Services Examination (CSE) to their performance in the 15-week foundation course.

Sources in the department of personnel and training told TOI that there is no unanimity among the cadre-controlling ministries of various services, including IAS, IPS and IFS, on the proposal, prompting the government to put it on the back-burner. This essentially means that successful candidates in CSE 2018 will be allotted services like IAS, IPS etc as per existing criteria like their rank in CSE, order of preference for service, candidate’s category, availability of vacancy in the candidate’s category and findings of the medical board/appellate board with respect to the candidate.
