Never ever Public Broadcaster had to kneel before private Producers to come and create content than this time … A policy that was discarded years back because of inherent reasons is being repeatedly re framed by a set of people in the organization who are out to sell both morals and system.
How could it be called a Policy if that is not accepted and forced to twist to disadvantage by a ‘cartel of outside Producers’ who have very easily manipulated another ‘cartel of Board Members and some officials’ to reintroduce a failed system …. Insiders reveal that one over insistent part time Board Member, whose son in law is the CEO of one of the blacklisted applicant companies and who is dictating Government policy from the office of now-famed Lady Producer in Mumbai is the culprit. How the public broadcasting monolith could be forced to succumb before an ordinary Producer who is dictating her writ through this part-time Member – a total sell out !
People in the Board are not aware how slots get built, assert their unique positioning in market and then attract buyers. Slots that enjoyed niche positioning in commercial market have gone kaput with illogicality and senseless policies drafted by ignorance of Board Members and bunch of deputationists over the years. They have defunct the objectives of a successful organization that stood tall and strong.
It is another interesting fact that Member Finance is turning a willing party to re-amend ‘Eligibility Criteria’, which is challengeable and questions propriety of repeated readjusting to suit favoured companies. The camouflage of a willing Board would not help and he needs to revisit Finance Rules afresh and updates from CVC that he is precariously violating. This undresses ulterior motive of some Members that are talking points in Prasar Bharati itself. Why does one have to reframe finance policy the manner Member Finance is letting himself do unless he is not a party ? More than his ignorance about media financing he shall be accused of succumbing to blackmailing by Producers who were all blacklisted for holding up Doordarshan money for decades. Should the Board not invite former senior Officers to apprise them of all reasons and compulsions of discarding the scheme and get some professional inputs first. Perhaps that would spoil the party !
Amongst many insipid things getting shaped this is one more such area where unimaginable set of people comprising of a Ghazal singer, Tabla player, an Actor ignorant of financial intricacies, Conduct rules, norms set by CVC sign the dotted line to redraft new policy on the assurance of Member Finance. This bunch of Board Members has really reduced public broadcasting to real mockery and remote manipulation. More with a DG absolutely at sea and unsure of future with equally incompetent Advisor taking over, the coffin is set to be nailed well.
Somehow in this clangor and rattle the Chairman who gave highball presentation is hiding somewhere – seems the balloon got burst before referee sounded whistle.
